Lesbian Online DatingWhy do we need lesbian online dating services? I’ll tell you right now, “We do not!” If there was a heterosexual online dating service there would be outcry. There would be riots in the streets. (slight exaggeration) People would protest and there would suddenly appear queues of lesbians who’s lives would have been adversely affected by their inability to express their sexuality on some terrible website that prevented them from joining because they were not straight. There is no protest from the heterosexual side of humanity about their being discriminated against when lesbians want to go off and have their own web site. Why is that? I have to say that I find it strange that women fought wildly for the right to wear men’s trousers and men, mildly amused by the whole thing did nothing about claiming the right to wear dresses. No, before you say anything, I am not a closet transvestite. If people want to wear bearskin furs instead of the clothes of whatever gender and style, it doesn’t bother me one way or the other. I don’t care what they wear. I dare say that most people feel that way nowadays. So, why do we need lesbian online dating services? Can they not use the same dating services as the rest of us? Do they feel that they are likely to be discovered by someone who knows them and was unaware of their sexuality; and that the heteros will be safely browsing their own site without fear of discovery and attack. (that was me grasping at straws) I really am mystified. There are in fact, as far as I can tell very anyway, very few online dating sites that do not include gay and lesbian people. By the way since when is it gay and lesbian? Are the lesbians not gay? If not, I have definitely missed something somewhere along the line. And I am still missing it. I suppose that maybe they feel that more at home with like-minded individuals. This is understandable. But, they are then promoting the segregation and discriminating that they have been struggling against. Alos, it seems to me that they are discriminating against heterosexuals and gay men. They are separating themselves from the rest of the dating world and then they scream blue murder when anyone else tries to keep to keep to themselves. The next question that springs to mind is, what do the bisexuals do now? Do they have to organise bisexual dating services for themselves? Certainly not. They are welcome at the straight online dating service... I think. I suppose it would depend on what variety of date they were looking for at the time. Maybe they should put a foot in both camps. If they were to browse the heterosexual dating site they might only find straight people if they were to browse the lesbian online dating sites they would be limiting their relationships to ones with females who want females. This might not be a problem for bisexual females. But, then what about the bisexual males? As a matter of fact while we are asking, what about transvestites and transsexuals of all varieties. There are a lot of different sexual tastes out there now. You might say we are not in Kansas now maw. Speaking of maw. Things were a little different in her day. Or were they? Maw's day was not really all that long ago. There were huge changes in society up to the eighties and then, I’m glad to say, there was a sudden slow down. I think really the only significant change is people’s acceptance of the gay way of life. It is in my view a change for the better. This change was due in large part to the celebrities that came out. It is fashionable now to be gay. There is hardly a soap on the TV that does not have at least two gay people in it. And the characters portrayed are not all the stereotypical characters that we have been led to believe all gay people closely resembled. They act like normal people accept that they are gay. This is, of course because they are normal people. It is now normal to be gay. Most European countries even allow same-sex marriages now. Giving equal status to gay spouses and heterosexual spouses at last. It will soon be hard to imagine a situation where your human rights and inheritance entitlement would depend on your sexual orientation. How will you explain that to your children in ten years time. No we do not need lesbian online dating services. Shut them down and put all the humans on the same online dating sites. We are all human. Aren’t we? But protect their right to their own site if the really want it. |
